I have been using these soapnuts for several weeks now, and as promised here is an update on that scented laundry issue: after about 6 loads washed with Maggie’s Soapnuts, my laundry stopped coming out of the wash perfumed, which Maggie’s told me was due to the fact that the soapnuts remove detergent residue (Tide from back in my unenlightened laundry days) from a dirty washer. Now, the laundry comes out smelling like nothing–just perfectly clean. I even used soapnuts to clean my daughter’s wool crib mattress pad the other day and was pleased with the result.
I do have to say I think the soapnuts struggle to get diapers completely clean when they are extra poopy, but I am trying to knock more solids off in the toilet anyway to avoid this scenario, which is hard on my washer. My reward for this extra effort is my daughter’s delight at watching the toilet flush. It’s too cute.
