DAY 27: Episencial Moisturizing Shampoo and Body Wash, Soothing Cream, & Face Balm Review/Giveaway
In the last days before the grand prize Christmas present that one of you lucky readers is going to win, I thought it would be nice to offer a prize that would pamper both mom and baby. Episencial, a trusted name in non-toxic skincare, is offering one lucky 29 Diapers fan a set of moisturizing shampoo/body wash, soothing cream for diaper area and other sensitive skin areas, and nurturing face balm. All these products come with light natural scents, many of which are fruity and modern.
All three of these products have been working great for both me and my baby over the past few weeks. Before using the moisturizing shampoo on baby girl, she had to use both a shampoo and conditioner to avoid massive tangles from forming in the back of her curly hair during sleep. I noticed even the first time that I used this shampoo that this was less of an issue, and after using it and forgetting to condition her hair I discovered that it really wasn’t necessary to use both. I love my super inexpensive shampoo I normally use, but I may have to switch to this to keep baby girl’s hair happy and shiny.
The soothing cream is comparable to Weleda’s diaper cream–smooth, moisturizing, and with a little zinc oxide to help with diaper rash prevention. Like the Weleda cream, its smooth properties keep it from sticking to baby’s bum to really prevent rashes from poopy diapers, though, so Burt’s Bees is still our standy for truly stubborn poop-related rashes or extremely raw skin. I imagine most kids have slightly less sensitive skin than my girl, though, as she inherited my rash-prone skin, so most people probably would prefer this to Burt’s Bees because of its nicer texture.
The face balm I have been using on dry patches that cropped up around my nose when the weather turned cold and on little patches of dry skin on my hands. Both areas improved greatly when I used the balm regularly, and this is really good news for me, because my normally oily and sensitive skin is a nightmare to deal with when it suddenly goes dry–it’s STILL acne- and rash-prone so I have to be careful which products I use on it, but it also has a hard time getting back into balance once it gets dry. I swear I have the pickiest skin around, and it loves this stuff. I just wish it came in a larger tube, as this one is about one tenth the size of the soothing cream.
