Many people love either Flip or Econobum diaper covers and prefolds. How would you like a chance to win some of both? The Little Seedling always comes up with the best prizes, don't they?
First Things First
The winner of last week’s Tiny Tush hemp one-size fitted diaper from Sweet Bottoms Baby Boutique is Kathy Pease! Congrats, Kathy. I have emailed you. Please respond within 72 hours to claim your prize.
And if you didn’t win, don’t worry because this week and next week will be chock full of prefold and diaper cover giveaways!
Free Prefolds and Diaper Covers!
Have I convinced you that prefolds are awesome yet? Well, try this on for size. My local diaper shop The Little Seedling is offering three separate prize packs over the next two weeks to help you get started with prefolds. Today, enter to win 1 Flip diaper cover and matching organic prefold and 2 Econobum diaper covers and prefolds! Read on for details.
How Flip and Econobum Surprised Me (Pleasantly)
When Flip and Econobum came out, I had mixed feelings. I heard Flip covers had running dye and cheap laminate in them that required special care to keep from melting. Who needs that kind of hassle, you know? And Econobum were essentially the same. The price couldn’t be beat, but how would special prefolds compare with my workhorse Diaper Service Quality prefolds?
True to form I forgot to separate my pink Flip tester cover from the rest of my stash for the initial 6 (!) washes recommended on the box. I hand-washed the cover in very hot water first, to make sure the dye wouldn’t run. It didn’t, so I threw the cover in with all the other diapers and promptly forgot to remove it from the lot for air drying. Just as well, since it did not melt in my dryer and has proven to be able to hold its own with my other diaper covers through machine washing and drying. So what the heck is up with the intimidating washing instructions, BumGenius?
The Flip prefold is made of a jersey knit organic cotton blend similar to Thirsties’ Duo Hemp prefold, but without the hemp. I found that the prefold absorbed quite well and the size was just right for the average size baby. As usual I’m not sure this one-size cover and one-size prefold will work from birth to potty training–a tall order–but they certainly have got the sizing right for most babies most of the time, which makes this an affordable diapering option.

Does one of the most affordable diaper cover and prefold options have a downside? Well, if you count white PUL as a downside....
Econobum also insists that it is not going to wow you with its durability in the wash, but again I found this cover held up just fine being machine washed and dried. I was also happy to discover that Econobum prefolds are made of fluffy cotton just like my standard DSQ prefolds, so prefold lovers will feel right at home with these diapers.
A Downside?
You know I love double leg gussets to contain newborn poopies, and neither Flip nor Econobum has these. This may be offputting to mamas of smaller babies. But for the price I’d say these are worth the risk, because at some point in your diapering years you’re bound to like them.
And if you count white PUL as a downside, Econobum covers are a little boring. But would you believe I kind of enjoyed having a white diaper in my stash? I like as much color as possible in my stash in most cases, but having this one white diaper (and the Softbums Omni) around is kind of nice….
The Giveaway
We have a lot of giveaways to get through in the next two weeks, so I will keep this simple. To enter to win 1 Flip diaper system and 2 Econobum covers and matching prefolds, fan 29 Diapers and The Little Seedling on Facebook and leave a comment on this post telling me both your Facebook name and your favorite product The Little Seedling carries other than these diapers. How cool are they to offer 3 diapers to one lucky winner? Don’t worry about spreading the luck around: there are still 2 more Little Seedling giveaways to come during Under Cover Month!
Extra Entries
Again, keeping it simple. Leave one comment on this blog post for each of the following things you do to get an extra entry in this giveaway (e.g. I blogged about your giveaway #1, I blogged about your giveaway #2, etc.). You must complete the required entry above before any extra entries will count.
1) Follow 29 Diapers on Google Friend Connect on the sidebar (current followers count too!). Leave me your GFC name so I can verify this entry (1 entry).
2) Tweet this giveaway, share it with your friends, or post about this giveaway in a linky (1 entry each, limit 1 Tweet per day).
3) Subscribe to 29 Diapers via email at the bottom of this blog post (1 entry). Current subscribers count too. But if you are a current subscriber, check to make sure your subscription has you signed up to receive all categories of posts you are interested in. I have been getting a lot of complaints lately that even with the email subscription list fixed you are only getting occasional email notifications of new posts on the blog. This may be because you are only signed up to receive notices of posts tagged with the cloth diaper category or the giveaway category.
* This giveaway is open to U.S. residents, and will run through 11:59 Eastern Time on Wednesday, March 16th. Winners have 72 hours to respond to my email, or another winner will be drawn. I can’t be held liable for lost mail, prizes that don’t arrive, etc. but if you have a problem receiving your prize, please contact me so I can make sure the sponsor has mailed it to the correct address. Good luck! *
I received a product from The Little Seedling to review for this post, but I was not compensated. 29 Diapers never accepts payment for posts, so you can be sure that my opinion is my own and uninfluenced by compensation.
