Done! Over 100 babies in fresh cloth diapers. They were very patient and good-humored about the goings on.
This afternoon, I was an official witness at the Ann Arbor gathering for The Great Cloth Diaper Change, gatherings of moms and babies across the world setting a Guinness World Record for most cloth diapers changed simultaneously. The idea is to bring awareness to the need for sustainable diapering and the awesome high-tech diapers now available that make cloth diapers a convenient and practical option for modern families.

Three of the prize packs raffled off during The Great Cloth Diaper Change included copies of my book, EcoFrugal Baby: How To Save 70% Off Baby's First Year.
The event was a lot of fun. Ann Arbor’s cloth diapering shop The Little Seedling hosted the event at a local school, and there was tons of great green loot on offer in goody bags and through a raffle of great prizes. Besides three copies of my book EcoFrugal Baby: How To Save 70% Off Baby’s First Year, I saw gallons of Allen’s Naturally detergent and packs of Rockin’ Green (both the best!), green toys from Haba and other great brands, organic clothing, cloth diapering supplies, and other awesome prizes.
Moms and babies started arriving at 11:30 and by 12:30 we were ready to rock. You can see in these pictures that the participants were cordoned off into quadrants to make official counting easier. Funnily enough, I counted 29 participants in my Quadrant 1. Cool, huh? 29 Diapers counts 29 diapering mamas at The Great Cloth Diaper Change.
Everyone held up the cloth diaper they were using and then all changed their babies’ diapers at the same time. Whew! Then everyone held up their fluffy-butt babies for an official picture, and we had set a world record!

This little guy brought his green plaid gDiapers and a branded cap to wear after his diaper was changed. Check out his shirt.
Around 100 people attended the Ann Arbor event, and I can’t wait to hear the official count from across the world. Next year the challenge will be to break the record set at this year’s first event.
A big thank you to Molly at The Little Seedling for inviting me to be a part of this event. I hope you like the pics! More official ones are on the way. For now, check out the gallery below for more fluff eye candy.
Happy Earth Day, green mamas! Did you attend The Great Cloth Diaper Change in your area?

Very cool! We spent the day at Sloomb for the event – so much fun! I’m actually uploading my photos now for my post!
I was at one of the locations in Grand Rapids. Yours looks much more spacious!
Thanks for sharing
Now that you mention it, I’ve always been curious- why is it 29 diapers? Why the number 29?
It’s the average number of diapers in a cloth diaper stash.
What a cute event that the stars were babies. Events like this could strengthen and provide additional information about diapering and baby sitting.
