Radio Flyer Tricycle Review
Radio Flyer, the maker of the classic red wagon, has quietly been building its product line to include all things transportation fun for kids. You can still buy their classic metal trike (now available in red or pink!) but you can also try the handled trike shown here that allows a parent to help steer without breaking their back, plus Bigwheel-style trikes, customizable wagons, bicycles, and more. For this review, Radio Flyer sent me their handled 4 in 1 trike, which has helped us transition from a stroller to a bike to allow me to continue walking with baby girl while she is that in between age where she hates being confined to a stroller but isn’t ready to ride a bike yet.
The 4 in 1 trike from Radio Flyer has several levels of equipment to grow with your child. For the smallest children, it has a plastic tray that circles their waist to keep them contained and hold their snacks, plus a seatbelt harness, a sun shade, and the parent handle that helps steer the tricycle. It’s just like a stroller ride but upright and allowing them to participate in pedaling the trike. When your child is a little older, you can remove the tray and the sun shade for a classic tricycle with a seat belt added for safety. Finally, when your child is able to pedal and steer on their own, you can remove the extra height of the seat and the seat belt, and take the handle off. Off they go with a regular tricycle.
My favorite thing about the Radio Flyer tricycle was that the handle is adjustable, so I can always get the right height to support my back properly. At first I thought all the bits and pieces were a little over thought, including that seat belt, but after a quick turn around the living room, baby girl flew right off the trike and onto her hip. Lesson learned. I guess I’ll just have to deal with my mother thinking a bike with a seat belt is ridiculous. When I told my mother-in-law about our little adventure, however, she assured me that traditional tricycles were notoriously top heavy and threw kids off them all the time, so that it made some sense. One final feature I want to share with you about this trike is the storage compartment in the back. It holds a small water bottle, keys, a wallet–whatever you need to help you avoid carrying a bag while using this trike out and about. Since I’m still dealing with bulging discs in my back, and I know quite a few new moms have back issues as well, I think this is not only a blast for kids but a true back saver for parents as well. You will just want to get some help assembling it, as “some assembly required” is quite an understatement with this thing. It’s high-quality stuff, but you bring the elbow grease to put it together.

Instead, we have your first opportunity for extra chances to win the Diono booster seat that will be featured in the finale of this event in just over a week! I was so excited when I saw this tricycle and then a bit bummed that it wasn’t a giveaway opportunity. Don’t worry. I still like you. =)
I know. I’m bummed too, but it is still a great gift idea… and I’m so glad you still like me, lol.
that tricycle is pretty fabulous!
i love that it has a seatbelt- i know my brother and i were infamous for jumping off of moving vehicles sideways!
i will definitely be bookmarking their page for next holiday season!!
