Where To Buy Cloth Diapers

Thirsties DuoWrap Warm Stripes PrintIf you’re lucky, you might have a cloth diaper shop or eco-friendly baby boutique near your home. If you do have a local store, check out how many brands they are carrying and ask a lot of questions. The best diaper shops will carry a variety of products, hopefully that have all been tested by the owner and staff. My local store, The Little Seedling, sells brands such as BumGenius, Fuzzibunz, Happy Heinys, Proraps, Bummis, and Thirsties. When I was buying diapers before my daughter was born, I asked about a particular brand, and they said they don’t carry it because it didn’t work well for the store owner. I like that. Every question I ask the staff has a clear answer, and they only sell the products they themselves use.

If you don’t have a local candy store fluff shop, there are many online cloth diaper shops. I will list a few in this article. It may be harder to ask questions of an online store owner, so look for shops that offer guarantees and good deals, so you don’t get stuck with a full stash of diapers you don’t like.

The Little Seedling

The Little Seedling has sales/coupons for FB, Twitter, and newsletter followers, and just introduced $1 shipping for $30+ orders in MI!

Diaper pricing is usually pretty much the same at every retailer, so it can be tough to find a really good sale on the fluffy stuff. The best thing you can do when buying diapers is to look for a store that has

  • Free Shipping (usually free shipping is offered on orders over $50-75)
  • Store-wide Sales (15-20% is about the best you’ll find)
  • Clearance Items
  • Diaper Trial Programs or Money-Back Guarantees
  • Volume Discounts/Special Offers from Manufacturers (e.g. buy 5 Fuzzibunz, get 1 free)

You can find a few stores with special offers in my blogroll and on the sidebar, and I have listed more below. Happy shopping!

Oh, and one caveat: BEWARE diaper shops that relentlessly promote their own brands on a store blog. There’s no way for you to know if they have a conflict of interest and are being honest with their product reviews. They might be, but how can you tell? I wrote a guest post for one of these blogs in good faith last year. Because they solicited the article, I thought they would want their readers to have ALL the great tips I could offer on saving money on cloth diapers. They rejected the article because it promoted too many other sites than theirs. I think if a manufacturer’s products really are the best, they can handle a little competition, and the first priority should be informing the consumer of all options… but I don’t own a diaper shop, so what do I know? :P

All the shops listed below have free shipping, special sales, or trial runs available. I may add more shops to this list as I find more deals for you, so check back!
