Announcing Ecofrugal Baby, the book and e-book!

Ecofrugal Baby: How To Save 70% Off Baby's First Year

Available for $19.96 for the book and just $5.99 for the e-book, Ecofrugal Baby can save you $7000, or 70% off baby's first year.

Hi everyone! I have exciting news for those of you who like to save money on baby gear. The 29 Diapers money-saving tips from the Ecofrugal Fridays series, which taught you how to save $7000, or 70%, off baby’s first year, are now available in a book and e-book!

I looked into the offerings out there for baby gear money-saving guides, and I’m afraid it’s slim pickings–mostly books that teach you about couponing and garage sales. But you readers already know about all that! What new parents need today is a resource to teach them how to REALLY save money on baby’s first year. So, I compiled the Ecofrugal Fridays series into book form, so busy parents like you can find all of this info in one place, and keep it handy when you’re on the baby gear hunt.

In addition to teaching you how to save 77% off baby’s toiletries, 85% off organic baby food, and how to get your baby’s first-year wardrobe completely for FREE, this book contains the actual baby gear buying checklist and spreadsheet that I used to track my savings. So, you can figure out what you need to buy for baby, what it costs, and how much you are saving, all in one place.

I have developed a reputation for getting great stuff without paying for it (my daughter’s adorable hooded Speesees jacket with ears, Boon feeding gear, Adiri nurser bottles, Haba toys, cloth diapers…), and you can do the same–without doing the hundreds of hours of research I did to find the best deals out there. So, please support this blog and purchase the book or e-book download of Ecofrugal Baby today, for yourself or a friend. The book makes a great shower gift for new parents. Thanks, and many blessings!

Ecofrugal Friday 2.0: Cloth Diapering for $30 or Less

Fern and Faerie Prefolds

If you have an old university t-shirt lying around, turn it into a super-cute prefold diaper!

I was just scavenging for some deals for you guys and ran across an old blog post that linked to an awesome site with FREE instructions on how to sew your own cloth diaper stash, whether you want flats, prefolds, fitteds, pocket inserts, pull-on wool covers, wipes, or even a wet bag! I’ve never seen so many instructions in one place, so if you’re considering sewing a part of your stash, this might be a good place to start.

The best part is, this site, Fern and Faerie, teaches you how to use old clothing from your wardrobe or a thrift store to make the diapers, so you can save a bundle on cloth AND make super cute prints for your diapers. The site even factors in the cost of thread to tell you the true cost of sewing each kind of diaper, so you know they’ve thought through the cost of each part of the stash they’re teaching you how to make. I’m not much of a sewer, but this website really has me tempted to try my hand at making a fitted diaper, or at least a prefold. I have a whole bag of old sheets and shirts lying around that I could turn into some great diapers using these simple instructions.

Fern and Faerie fitted diaper

If you have a t-shirt or pajama pants with artwork or a pattern on them, the possibilities really are endless for creating beautiful fitted diapers.

The reason this site caught my eye more than the usual diaper patterns website is also that the diapers are so cute. An old plaid shirt can be made into a super-cute prefold, and a university t-shirt makes an awesome diaper insert or fitted–with the logo of your alma mater right on the bum. So if you’re considering sewing your own diapers to save money, check out Fern and Faerie. Happy Friday, everyone!

Ecofrugal Fridays 2.0: Save Some Green on Green Products

The Bebe in Fluff We came to the end of the Ecofrugal Fridays series of blog posts a few weeks ago, the series that taught you how to save 70% off baby’s first-year gear using a variety of money-saving techniques. Now, I’m going to move on to giving you busy parents specific tips on some great sales and deals I find around the Interwebs. I will cherry pick the deals to bring you only discounts of 20% off or greater, if I can, since anything less is kind of blah once you factor in shipping costs.

Every week I will open the comments for you to post deals you have found online, as well. At some point I’d like to create a whole section of the website for posting deals and promos, but for now a weekly post will have to do. I hope you like it! Please let me know which tips/deals you use.

This week, I have a couple cloth diaper sales to share with you:
