How To Save $$$ on Diaper Bags
-

Mod, neutral colors and a backpack style camouflage this Skip Hop diaper bag as just another bag for your wouldn't-be-caught-dead-with-a-diaper-bag husband.
When I set out to find baby gear, a diaper bag looked like a ridiculous purchase to me. Who pays nearly $100 for a bag that is unfashionable, unwieldy, and only has one function? I thought a diaper bag would be a piece of cake to find for free, because I could use just about anything.
Well, I could have, but that was before I discovered SkipHop and OiOi bags in my local baby boutique. Oops. Shouldn’t have looked. I discovered that these bags came in bright colors or mod prints (my weaknesses!), that they had matching portable changing pads, that they had stroller clips on their straps so I could hang them off the back of my stroller when I went to the mall. Unable to justify the expense myself, I registered for one, and I got two!
Diaper bags make a great registry item, so if you have the option, go ahead and put your dream bag (such a silly term until you “meet the one”!) on your registry. If you don’t get it, though, here are some other ways to get the bag you want without paying retail for it.
1) Giveaways. You knew I was going to fit them into this post somehow, right?
If you are open to trying different brands of diaper bags, new diaper bag makers often promote their products with giveaways, or more established companies sometimes promote new and improved products this way. Check out Prizey.net and Online-Sweepstakes.com to get started, or Google or search Twitter for “diaper bag giveaway” or the hashtags #diaperbag, #giveaway, and #win. Once you start seeing which companies offer giveaways, Google the specific names of the bags to find even more giveaways. Happy entering!
2) Clearance sales. Diaper bags are getting more fashionable, so they actually go in and out of fashion (sort of), albeit a little more slowly than Kate Spade purses. If you have a favorite brand but are flexible on which style of bag you want, this might be a good option for you. Keep an eye out for sales at local or online boutiques, or collect mailer coupons from department stores that have baby departments, such as Macy’s or JC Penney.
3) Flash sale sites offer short sales on a variety of items, often up to 50% off retail. Here are a few that specialize in baby gear….
