Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipe

Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipe

Here’s another great recipe I made my own last year while searching for ways to cut costs on all-natural beauty products. My foaming sugar scrub can be used to soften rough heels and hands, or even to exfoliate your face if your skin doesn’t mind a little olive oil. You can add any scent you like to this recipe, which is one of the reasons it’s so great, but I like grapefruit to mimic some of my favorite Origins products that are sadly not all-natural as I used to believe.

Grapefruit Foaming Sugar Scrub Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 – 2 cups white table sugar
  • 10 drops grapefruit essential oil
  • 1/4 cup jojoba oil or olive oil
  • 1/4 cup liquid castile soap (Dr. Bronner’s Baby Mild castile soap)
  • 4 drops grapefruit seed extract (a natural preservative)

Instructions:

Measure sugar into a glass bowl and stir with a fork to break up any clumps. Add the essential oil. Stir again to disperse the oil in the sugar. Add the oil and castile soap and grapefruit seed extract. Mix well and pour into clean, wide-mouth containers. Place by the sink or in the shower, and use 2 T or so to scrub cuticles or feet. Rinse and enjoy soft hands and feet.

Note: If you like a scrubbier scrub, add more sugar. But note that this recipe will dry out a bit over time (and the sugar will absorb some of the scent), so if you plan to keep it around for more than a few months, use 1 1/2 cups of sugar in this recipe to keep it moist over time.

Where Do I Buy The Ingredients?

I have purchased ingredients at From Nature With Love before and been very happy with the quality and the company’s explanations of each product so I know what I’m getting. My friend Mandy swears by Mountain Rose Herbs.
