Natural Furniture Polish Recipe
You may not even think of making your own furniture polish when you’re greening your housecleaning, because most people don’t use furniture polish very often. But that’s actually a great reason to use this recipe, because you’ll never have to buy Pledge again, or worry if you have it in stock. Just whip up a quick batch of this green cleaner from two common household products, and you’re ready to go.
Furniture Polish Recipe
2 T olive oil
1 T lemon juice
Mix in a small bowl or ramikin, and rub onto furniture with a dry towel. This amount will cover an average dining room table, so if you’re polishing a larger area, scale up as needed.
Homemade Furniture Polish vs. Pledge
I tested my homemade furniture polish against Pledge, polishing one half of the dining table with Pledge and the other half with my homemade furniture polish.
The results?
Virtually indistinguishable.
The homemade polish left an oilier residue, and the Pledge had a waxier feel, but they cleaned about the same. That’s pretty incredible considering Pledge is full of all sorts of chemicals, and my recipe contains just two all-natural ingredients that most people stock in their homes all the time.
